Patient survey and results

We had our first meeting of this group on the 12/3/08. Our purpose was, and still is:

To give Practice staff and patients the opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest in their Practice.
To provide the means for patients to make positive suggestions about the Practice and their own healthcare.
To act as a representative group that can be called upon to influence the local provision of health and social care.
We have met three times during 2013 / 2014 and had our last meeting in January 2014. We continue to be a small group of 8 and have lost two of our founder members. However we have happily had two new members join us, but we are continually looking for new members, so please feel free to join us – no experience required! The group should ideally be representative of our very diverse Practice population and a few younger patients would be very welcome.

Last year we focused  attention on the way we communicate in the Practice. Following on from this we decided to explore patients’  knowlege of the Out of Hours Services. Our local Clinical Commissioning Group, in common with national services, have been concerned about the number of patients accessing Accident and Emergency Services inappropriately. We know from our own Practice many patients go to A/E when the surgery is closed when it would be more appropriate for them to use the Out of Hours services. There was a lot of publicity with the launch of NHS111 so we thought we would design a survey to see if this information had effectively been communicated to our patients.
